Rose Marie Brinker Morrison, age 83, of Richmond, died Tuesday evening (May 6, 2014) at Reid Hospital. She was born in Richmond on June 10, 1930 to Mathias and Irene Issen Brinker and had lived here all of her life. She was the last surviving member of a family of nine children. She attended Saint Andrew School and was a 1948 graduate of Richmond High School. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Catholic Commmunity. She had helped operate her family's business, Brinker's Grocery, and through the years had worked for Richmond Community Schools, Wernle Home, Green Acres and Reid Hospital. Rose lived a very full and active life to the very end. She enjoyed traveling and had a passion for playing cards, usually several times per week with her many friends. Her knack for euchre earned her the nick-name "First Trick Rose". She had a big heart filled with joy and love and always had an open kitchen. Rose touched many lives with her kindness and compassion. Anyone who knew Rose loved her and was fortunate and blessed to enjoy the light she radiated. All will miss her giving heart, sense of humor and the laughter she shared with so many. She is survived by her son Michael Morrison (fiance Casey Rodefeld); grandchildren Kristin Gregory and Taylor Morrison (fiance Alexia Springer) all of Richmond; many special nieces and nephews and cousins and the most amazing, wonderful and loving circle of friends that anyone would ever hope for. Her husband, Harold Morrison, whom she married on October 14, 1960 and with whom she celebrated 40 years of marriage, died on November 1, 2000. In addition to her husband and parents, a daughter, Jane Gregory; three sisters, Jean Stolle, Angela Brinker, Ruth Stearns and 5 brothers, James, Paul, Robert, John and Fred Brinker are also deceased. Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (May 10, 2014) in Holy Family Catholic Church. Friends may call on Friday (May 9, 2014) from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Msg. J.G. Riedman will officiate. Burial will be in Saint Andrew Cemetery.
