Ruth Gross McClain, age 102, of Centerville, died Saturday (March 1, 2014) at Reid Hospital. Born November 4, 1911, in Athol, KY, to Floyd and Reddi Miller Gross, Ruth lived in Centerville since 1946. She was one of the original employees at Wright Aeronautical, later General Electric, and made airplane parts from the beginning till the end of WWII. She then moved to Dayton, OH to work for Frigidaire. There, she met Medford McClain, they were later married, and she moved to his home in Centerville. She was then a homemaker and loving Wife and Mother for the rest of her life. Survivors include her sons, Larry, Marvin and Marc; Grandchildren, Mindy Goss, Kiersten Howard, Matthew McClain, Jonny McClain, Michael McClain, Dru McClain, Emily McClain, and Amanda McClain; thirteen Great Grandchildren; Sisters-in-law, Stella Eldridge of Harrison, Ohio, Aileen McClain of Greensfork, Eileen McClain of Johnson City, TN; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Medford; infant Daughter Sylvia Jane, infant son Philipp; her parents; five sisters, two brothers and one great grandson. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. To 2:00 P.M. On Friday (March 7, 2014) with a service at 2:00 P.M. in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary, 32 South 11th Street, Richmond, IN. Private burial will be Monday in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
