Ruth Roll, age 82, of Richmond, died Friday afternoon (March 16, 2012) at Reid Hospital. She was born in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Bertha and Roscoe Johnson, on March 15, 1930. She married Myron Joe Roll in November of 1948. Together they raised five children on their family farm just north of Richmond. After her children were grown, Ruth started working at the Graphic Press and retired from the Palladium-Item. She was an active member for over 60 years at the Whitewater Christian Church. Ruth was a volunteer for Reid Hospital and was awarded the Life Time Volunteer Award in December of 2011 for her 35 years of service at the hospital. After, retirement, Ruth also began volunteering for Circle U Help Center. Survivors include her five children - Michael Roll of New Whiteland, Indiana, John (Barbara) Roll of Richmond, Deborah (Mark) Richardson of Knoxville, Tennessee, Linda Minix of Richmond and Carol (Randy) McFarland of Richmond. Ruth had 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters - Dorothy (Joe) Carothers of Evansville, Mary Lou Bailey of Richmond, and her brother-in-law, Leland Roll of Batesville, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, a daughter-in-law, Debra Burgess Roll, an infant son, an infant granddaughter, and her sister, Irene North. Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday (March 20, 2012) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Larry Girdwood will officiate. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday (March 19, 2012) from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
