Samuel J. Turner, age 66, of Richmond, died of natural causes in his home surrounded by his wife and two sons, on the morning of Thursday, June 3, 2021.
Sam was born in Richmond, Indiana on May 10, 1955 to Paul and Marilyn (Benjamin) Turner and had lived in this area all his life. He was a graduate of Richmond High School, class of 1974. Throughout his life, Sam had several careers, however, he most enjoyed living his life through his hobbies of fishing, bowling, stopping by the occasional yard sale and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Connie, with whom he recently celebrated their 41st anniversary. Married in 1979, they are the proud parents of three children, Mindy (Mark) Willard of Oregon, Wisconsin, Matthew (Colleen) Turner and Andrew Turner of Richmond. Sam was a loving grandfather to six lively boys, Brennan, Benjamin, Lincoln, Kameron, Mason and Harrison (and one on the way). He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with each one. Sam is also survived by one sister, Cindy Melton and many other friends and family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents Paul "Bill" and Marilyn as well as his brother Steven Turner and sister Cathy Smith.
A brief service for Sam will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday June 7, 2021 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Cindy Ploughe will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday June 7, 2021 at the funeral home.
