Sarah "Rose" Shaffer, age 79, of Richmond, Indiana passed away on Tuesday (February 25, 2020) at Reid Hospital. She was born on December 29, 1940 to Charles and Ethel Fortner in Wayne County Indiana. Rose was always smiling, she never complained about being sick or the curveballs life would throw at her. She was a kind, caring and giving individual. She would open the door for anybody who needed help and never talked negatively about anyone. Rose loved going to Gateway Church and thought of them as family. She loved her cats and absolutely adored her two children.
Survivors include her children Amy Shaffer and Glen (Vanessa) Shaffer; brother Carl Fortner; sister Judy (Don) Devers, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Arthur "Art" Shaffer and grandson Adam L. Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday (March 7, 2020) at Gateway Church (3361 IN-227, Richmond, IN 47374).
