Obituary

Shirla Ann Skinner Richter, age 79, of Richmond, passed away peacefully on Sunday April 17, 2011, 3 years to the day after her beloved husband, Frederick Richter, also passed. He was her soul mate and best friend so it is only fitting and one of God's many wonders that they would leave this earth on the same date. Shirla's journey began in Richmond, Indiana where she was born to Paul H. and Donna E. Skinner on September 10, 1931. She worked many happy years at Wayne Corp. and had many close friends from that phase of her life. Continuing her quest for personal growth, she converted to Catholicism which brought her great comfort. She gave back by spending many hours at Reid Memorial Hospital as a volunteer in the Heart Rehabilitation Department. Shirla lives on through those she touched along the way, including her step children: Sandra Montgomery of Carmel, IN, Linda (Alan) Cohen of Indianapolis, IN., Marilyn Sue Dann of Minneapolis, MN, P. Michael (Angela) Richter of Richmond, IN, John (Betsy) Richter of Hebron, KY, Beth (Kurt) Churchia of Avon, IN; her sisters: Nola (John) Reeves and Glenna Ayers both of Richmond. She is also survived by many loved grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A special thanks to her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Lois Richter of Fishers, IN who gave special care to her in countless ways during the last years. Shirla thought of the staff at Forest Park Health Campus as "her angels" because of the gentle and loving care she received there, and the family would like to especially thank them for their care and compassion. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bob Skinner and sister, Donna Fay Walters. Shirla's life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (April 23, 2011) in Riggle " Waltermann Mortuary. The service will be officiated by her beloved priest, Father Todd Riebe. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. www.riggle-waltermann.com
