Stephen O. Chase, age 85, passed away at 6:27 a.m. on Tuesday August 1, 2023. He was born June 20, 1938 to Clarence and Catherine Chase in Richmond, Indiana.

He graduated from Richmond High School in June 1956. Two weeks later he enlisted in the Air Force for four years. He was assigned for two years in Rhein Main Air Base in Franfurt, Germany. After discharge in 1960 he attended and graduated from Acme Institute for Tool and Die Design.

He married Janice Stier on August 31, 1963 and they had one son Brian and grandson Zachary. Wife Janice preceded him in death. He attended and graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Indiana Institute of Technology (IND Tech) Ft. Wayne in 1969.

Employment was mostly in central Indiana but in 1981 he joined Hayes Stelitte in Kokomo. Machine tool sales, outside sales for Sam's Club and substitute teaching came prior to retirement in 2000. The main interest for years was family history.

Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday August 7, 2023 at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary (32 South 11th St. Richmond, IN). A burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Deacon Jim Miller will officiate. Family and friends may call from 1-2 p.m. on Monday August 7, 2023 at the funeral home.
