Thomas W. Grimes, age 49, formerly of Richmond, went home to be with the Lord on Monday (October 4, 2010) at his residence in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was born in Richmond on December 14, 1960 to Robert E. and Jeannette R. Chamberlain Grimes and had lived in Texas for the past 30 years. Tommy was a free spirit who lived life to it's fullest. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending all of his free time with his special grandson Blake. He worked for Angelina Steel in Lufkin, Texas. Tommy was loved and will be dearly missed. Survivors include his mother and step-father - Jeannette R. Newton and James Newton, Jr of Richmond, brothers - Robert E. Grimes, Jr of Richmond, Donnie R. Collins of Richmond, Brian E. Grimes of Huffman, Texas, Larry D. Grimes of Hagerstown, Indiana; sisters - Brenda S. Baker of Huffman, Texas, Karen A. Godinich of Huffman, Texas, June M. Buckalew of Richmond, Judith A. Grimes of Richmond, Chris Grimes of Richmond, Regina L. Grimes of Richmond, Dawn R. Grimes of Richmond; a grandson - Blake; fourteen nieces and eight nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, George W. Grimes, his father - Robert E. Grimes, and his beloved step-mother - Wanda Faye Grimes. Family and clsoe friends will gather for a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday (August 24, 2011) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. Paul Mingus will officiate. Burial will be in Elkhorn Cemetery.
