Tildon R. Newton, age 73, of Richmond, died Monday afternoon (February 22, 2010) at Reid Hospital. He was born in Lee County, Kentucky on March 20, 1936 to Albert B. and Callie Hollins Newton, the thirteenth of sixteen children, he had lived here most of his life. He retired in 1995 after working in construction for many years where he helped build many buildings in the Richmond area. Tildon was an avid fisherman and hunter and was a wonderful husband and father. He had been in poor health for several years. Survivors include his wife - Carolyn Newton; children - Lavonda Sands of Alexandria, Kentucky, Dorothy McWhorter of Richmond, Roger Newton of Richmond, Alvin Newton of Richmond, Melvin Newton of Richmond, Janet Lutes of Beattyville, Kentucky, step-son - Larry Williams of Richmond; brother - Ernest Newton of Richmond; sister - Virginia Horn of Richmond; 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 4 step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, 5 brothers, 7 sisters and two daughters, Sylvia and Karen, are also deceased Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday (February 26, 2010) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary.
