Vera B. Reynolds, age 96, of Richmond, passed away Sunday (June 10, 2018) at Arbor Trace completing a life full of faith, service and joy. She was born September 11, 1921 to Charles C. and Mary Virginia Spangler in rural Preble County, Ohio. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School, New Paris, Ohio, and from Indiana Business College, Richmond, Indiana.
Vera was an active member of First Christian Church in Richmond and of the Christian Women's Fellowship of the church. She served as Elder, Sunday School Teacher and held numerous other positions of responsibility in the congregation including being Hospitality Chairperson for several years. She had a love for music and sang in the First Christian Choir for over 70 years. She participated in the widely known Easter Passion Play, "The Dawning", presented by the church annually to the community for more than two decades. She delivered Meals on Wheels in the community for 27 years, was active in the local Widowed Persons Service and volunteered at the Wayne County Welcome Center for several years. She retired from the Prudential Insurance Company of America after 41 years of service. Vera's gracious spirit, loving friendship and loyal leadership will be thoughtfully remembered and greatly missed by First Christian Church and the larger community.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbur in 1996. They had enjoyed 35 years of companionship and love together from their marrIage on December 24, 1961. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Opal Royer, Ruby Spangler; her brother, Jewel Spangler. She is survived by cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday (June 19, 2018) in First Christian Church (100 South 10th Street, Richmond). Rev. Cindy Ploughe will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial in Lutherania Cemetery will take place prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church Memorial Fund, 100 South 10th Street, Richmond, Indiana 47374. Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary will coordinate the services.
