December 2, 2009 Vera Louise Shepard, age 93, of Richmond, died Tuesday evening (December 1, 2009) at Golden Living Center - Golden Rule. She was born in Union County, Indiana on January 20, 1916 to Claude L. and Edith Miller Pritchard-Doner and had lived in this area most of her life. She had worked for Reid Hospital, Lauramoore Friends Home, Dennis Junior High School, McDonald's Restaurant and retired from Richmond State Hospital. Her husband, Hershel Shepard, whom she married on February 17, 1934, died in 1983. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Center for their kind and compassionate care. Survivors include her daughters - Melva (James) Brown of Oxford, Ohio, Nancy (Gary) Via of Richmond; sons - James (Judy) Shepard of Richmond, Loren Shepard of Richmond, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, sons - Richard (Joy Ward) Shepard, Jack Shepard; a daughter - Sue (Robert) Stafford, and a sister, Dorothy Wessel, are also deceased Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday (December 7, 2009) in West Point Cemetery in Liberty, Indiana.
