Verna Cohee, age 91, of Richmond, died Saturday morning (October 7, 2006) at Oakridge Rehab and Specialty Care.� She was born in Jellico, Tennessee on January 23, 1915 to James and Nancy Douglas Dowell and had lived here most of her life.� Verna was a homemaker and loved cooking and gardening. She was an avid reader and writer and had published a cookbook of family recipes.� She was also a regular contributor to Letters to the Editor and was a composer of songs and poetry.� She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church.� She was a member of the WCTU and a former member of the Rebekah Lodge.� Her husband of 35 years, Howard W. Cohee, died June 11, 1975.

A son, Howard E. Cohee; two sisters, Jeanette Liberti and Wylean Witte;� and a brother, George H. Dowell,� are also deceased.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday (October 11, 2006) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary.� Rev. Mike Holman will officiate.� Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery.� Friends may call on Tuesday (October 10, 2006) from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.�
