Vernon E. Leerssen, age 85, of Richmond, died Monday morning (February 28, 2005) at Golden Rule - Beverly Healthcare. He was born on July 14, 1919 in Oaks, North Dakota to Frederick and Lydia Greuel Leerssen and had lived here since 1948. He was a US Army veteran of World War II where he served with the 20th Division Engineers. He retired in 1982 as an employee of Armstrong Heating and Cooling and he had worked for Miller Milkhouses. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. His wife, Edna Collins Leerssen, died on July 29, 2001.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday (March 3, 2005) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Pastor Herb Berry will officiate. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday (March 2, 2005) from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
