Obituary

Vernon D. Weiss, age 71, of Richmond, died Tuesday evening (February 24, 2004) at Alterra-Sterling House. He was born in Greens Fork, Indiana on February 28, 1932 to Raymond and Jeanette Merkamp Weiss and had lived here all of his life. He was a 1950 graduate of Greens Fork High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served during the Korean War. He was a retired 31 year employee of Belden Wire and Cable and he farmed. Vernon was an avid sports fan and he enjoyed genealogy and local history. He was a member of Saint Andrew Church and he also attended Visitation Catholic Church in Eaton, Ohio. His wife, Patricia Weiss, died in 1997.
Survivors include: Daughters - Jackie (husband Jim) Kloer of Muncie, Indiana
Carol Zwissler of Bloomington, Indiana
Son - Tom (wife Mary) Weiss of Columbus, Indiana
Brothers - Charles Weiss of Greens Fork
Eugene Weiss of Hagerstown
Ed Weiss of Daleville
Sister - Betty Stubbs of Richmond

Nieces, Nephews and Cousins
Two brothers, Herbert Weiss and Ralph Weiss, are also deceased
A prayer service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday (February 27, 2004) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary followed by Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Saint Andrew Church. Burial will be in Saint Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday (February 26, 2004) from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home and prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society - Wayne County Unit, 1401 Chester Blvd. Richmond, Indiana 47374 or to the Monroe County - YMCA Cardiac Rehab Program or to a favorite charity. www.riggle-waltermann.com
