Violet M. Merritt, age 99, passed away on Tuesday (June 30th 2015) at her residence. She was born on August 25th 1915 in Scott County, Indiana to Perry and Dona LaMaster and had lived in this area since 1941. She had worked in this area as waitress, restaurant owner, co-owner of a shoe store, plaster contractor, and a realtor. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Richmond, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School. Survivors include her Daughter Marilyn S. Filling; Son Darren Merritt; Grandsons Brent Williams, Pat Boyd, Brian LaMaster, Eric (Sara) Carman; Granddaughters Kellie (Greg) Davis, Kelinda (Rodney) LaMaster-Flory and Angie Boyd; Sisters Betty Barrett, and Mildred Roush; Brother Robert (Dorothy) LaMaster; great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband Lemlie W. Williams, second husband Leo Merritt, Brother Roland Dale, Sisters Ruth Burr, Myrtle Furnish, and Margery Bridgewater, Son Roland Gene Williams, Daughter Karen Boyd, and grandson Barry Gene Williams. Services for Violet will be held on Friday (July 3rd 2015) at 12 p.m. in Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. Pastor Ralph Holdeman will officiate. Graveside services will follow in Scotsburg Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana. Friends may call on Friday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
