Obituary

Virgil J. King, age 86, of Richmond, died Sunday (February 9, 2014) at his residence. He was born in Richmond on February 16, 1927 to Virgil H. and Mae H. Martin King and had lived here all of his life. He was a US Army veteran of World War II. Virgil retired from Richmond Gear in 1989 where he served for 38 years. He was a 54 year member of First Baptist Church and was a former member of the Optimist Club where he had also coached baseball. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time and visiting with them. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Wanda King; son, Terry Lee King of Madison, Indiana; daughter, Sharon Kay (Terry) Thompson of Richmond; grandchildren, Courtney King, Hailee King, Zak King, Andy (Natalie) Laird, David Laird, Stephanie Ramsey, Justin King; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister, Mary Bashark of San Diego, California; nieces and nephews. A son, Jeffrey Scott King, died January 28, 2013.4, 2013. Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday (February 14, 2014) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Rev. James Spon will officiate. Burial will be in Abington Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday (February 14, 2014) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. www.riggle-waltermann.com
