Wanda J. Freeman Haas, age 82, who resided at the Leland Residence, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening (September 28, 2005) at her home. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on May 24, 1923, was adopted by Joseph and Myrtle Thomas Freeman, and had lived in this area most of her life. She was a graduate of Richmond High School and a 1945 graduate of Earlham College. She was a music teacher and taught school at Hagerstown and Greens Fork. She retired from the Union School Corporation in Modoc after more than 45 years in the teaching profession. She had also taught private violin lessons. She was member of the Society of Friends and was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She had served as a board member of the Lauramoore Friends Home. Wanda loved animals and music and was a friend to everyone.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday (October 3, 2005) in Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Chaplain David Garman will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday (October 2, 2005) from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm where a Quaker memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 pm.
