William "Bill" Frederick Denny, age 96 of Richmond, passed away peacefully on Saturday August 16, 2025, at Friends Fellowship Community. He was born in Richmond, Indiana on January 20, 1929, to Lawrence Frederick Denny and Nellie Lavonne Jones Denny. Bill graduated from Richmond High School in 1947, he attended Purdue University where he obtained his bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1953. He served his country honorably in the US Army and was stationed in Germany from 1953-1955. On September 25, 1965 he married his beloved Hilda Smith Denny. Bill worked for Belden Wire for 28 years; he enjoyed vacations with family members and immersing himself in compiling the genealogy for the family. He was a member of the American Legion Post 65, lifetime member of VFW Post 1108 and Lifetime member of Purdue Alumni. Bill was a respected member of the Richmond community, friend to many and a true gentleman.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister-in-law Ann Smith along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill is also preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Hilda Smith Denny, his brother George Richard Denny and several beloved family members.
Services for Bill will be held at 1pm on Wednesday August 27, 2025, at Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary. Burial will follow in Earlham Cemetery. Public visitation will be held from 11am-1pm on Wednesday August 27, 2025, at the funeral home, with service immediately following visitation at the funeral home.
