William A. "Bill" Gill III, age 71 of Richmond passed away Saturday June 30, 2018 at Reid Hospital after losing his battle with melanoma. He was born in Clarksburg, WV on April 23, 1947 to William A. Gill Jr. and Gladys Reynolds Gill. Bill graduated from Richmond High School in 1965. He received his BS degree in Education from Indiana State University graduating in 1970. He was very proud of the things he had accomplished in his working career. Some of his jobs included being a Radio News Director and TV Reporter, District Sales Manager for Northwestern Mutual Life, Sales Manager at Rosa's Inc., Owner/Operator of Tech Plus Inc., Classroom Instructor at Hope House Addiction Center, Financial Aid Director at IU East and various contract services for Good News Habitat for Humanity. He volunteered for many years in various clubs including co-chairman of J-C Club, Secretary-Treasurer and Honorary President of Life Underwriter Association, United Way of Wayne County, Cub Pack and Scout Troop Committees, President of both the Richmond Noon and Evening Kiwanis Clubs, and Volunteer Coordinator at Habitat for Humanity. Bill also enjoyed attending the Indy 500 every year since the early 1960s so much so that he purchased the 1989 pace car.
Survivors include his children Robert W. Gill and Susan D. (Scott) Latimer; brothers Stephen F. (Peggy) and Jonathan R. (Dawn) Gill; grandchildren Christine and Cody Latimer; former second wife Lori Laswell and step-children Whitney and Matthew Stephens; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Christine Glorioso Gill and brother David M. Gill.
Services for Bill will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday July 5, 2018 at Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary with burial to immediately follow. Visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to Habitat for Humanity.
