William Marty Johnson, beloved brother, son, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on August 25, 1959, in Richmond, Indiana to William Arthur and Judith (Nolte) Johnson.
Marty was a proud graduate of Richmond High School and later pursued his calling in the arts, graduating from cosmetology school. For over 40 years, he thrived as a hairstylist, earning the loyalty and affection of countless clients who cherished his skill and warm personality. A devoted member and previous council member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. Marty had previously served as a Eucharistic minister; his faith was a cornerstone of his life. In addition to his work in cosmetology, Marty was a talented artist and an active member of the Richmond Art Museum, he was proud of his beautiful and colorful flower garden, which reflected his vibrant spirit.
Marty loved with his whole heart and will always be remembered for his loving nature, artistic talent, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey. Rest in peace, dear Marty. You will be profoundly missed.
Marty is survived by his loving mother, Judith Johnson, siblings Rochelle (Andy) Smith, Carmen Mills, Bridgette (Jim) Scott, Mark Johnson and Andrea Curren. Marty had many nieces and nephews as well as many close friends who will miss him dearly. He had an ability to connect with everyone he met, making friends wherever he went, too numerous to mention individually. Marty was preceded in death by his father William Arthur Johnson, sister Sherrell Lynn, niece and nephew, Falyn and Milo.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Tuesday July 21, 2026, from 3:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Riggle - Waltermann Mortuary. Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday July 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
