Obituary

William "Bill" Smith, 89, of Richmond, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026. He was born October 21, 1936 in Richmond, Indiana where he grew up and graduated from Richmond High School.

He is preceded in death by his daughter: Rhonda Smith and two brothers: James Moistner and Robert Smith. He is survived by his children: Brian Smith (He called "Cat Eye"), Brenda Smith (he called "The Boss"), Brett Smith (He called "Little Bretty") and Byron "Jeffrey" Smith (He called "Jeffie") all of Richmond, Indiana; grandsons: Jason Robert Smith and Caleb Woodrow Smith; great grandchildren: Matthew, Winslow and Shia; and niece: Robin Barker.

Bill had a strong work ethic. He worked for over 23 years at Swayne Robinson in Richmond, Indiana, as well as Team USA (Oil Refinery) in Long Beach, California and Jacksonville Convention Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He would never let you forget he always held a job. He was proud of that.
In his younger years he enjoyed cars and drag racing. He considered nice cars to be "A1A. In his later years he liked playing cards, the game show Price is Right, The Andy Griffith Show and watching over his dear friend Arnold. He would often talk about how he met Elvis Presley in the Army, and actor Tom Selleck at a Hospital in California.

We will miss his wit and charm. When you walked in the room he would say, "What the Hell?!?!". Which meant he was happy to see you as he broke out in a big smile, followed by "I'm Okay."

Rest peacefully Dad, we love you.

In honor of Bill's final wishes, no services will be held.
