Obituary

William Leo Snipe, age 79, passed away on Tuesday (September 26, 2017) at his residence. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to William Floyd & Lillian Snipe. He attended St. Bernard Prep School in Cullman, Alabama, and later the University of Alabama, where he played football. He moved to this area in 1967 and worked in the billing department at Reid Hospital, and later Belden, where he retired after 29 years. After retirement, he drove for Hand-in-Hand Adult daycare. Bill was a professional scouter, and later became a scout master for troops 14 and 114, where he graduated 114 Eagle scouts. His latest hobby was making walking sticks for his eagle scouts.

Survivors include his children Alicia (Sam) Blalock of Alabama, Charles Snipe of Richmond, and William R. Snipe of Florida; step children Greg (Sarah) Dafler and Michelle Dafler; sisters Anitra Sullivan and Cecelia Ramsey; grandchildren Ben Dafler, Josh Dafler, and special granddaughter Danielle Dafler; great grandson Noah; nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a brother and his parents.

Services for Bill will be held on Wednesday (October 4, 2017) at 11 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church (815 West Main St. Richmond, IN 47374) Father Kevin Morris will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday (October 3, 2017) from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Riggle – Waltermann Mortuary (32 South 11th St. Richmond, IN 47374) Those wishing to make a contribution in Bill's name may do so by contributing to Hand-in-Hand Adult daycare (2727 E Main St, Richmond, IN 47374) or your local Boy Scout Group.
