Our mission is to assist families in creating personalized funeral experiences that honor the life of their loved ones.  

Since 1910, Riggle-Waltermann Mortuary has had the privilege of helping families in their time of need. Our story began as Jordan, McManus, Hunt & Waltermann on Main Street in Downtown Richmond before we moved to our current location at 32 S 11th St in 1918.

In the 1930s, following leadership changes, the business became Unser & Waltermann. George Riggle moved to Richmond from western Indiana in 1946 and became a partner in 1952, creating Waltermann–Riggle. Following Joseph Waltermann’s passing in 1960, his son Frank assumed ownership. Six years later, George Riggle became principal partner, and the funeral home was renamed Riggle–Waltermann Mortuary.

In 1968, George and Frank added a new, expanded chapel and other renovations. In 1972, George’s son Gary joined our funeral home, continuing the family legacy. In 2005, Eric Davis joined our team through a high school internship and began working full-time in 2008 after earning his mortuary license.
